Drunk driving deaths rise in B.C. during the summer

In the summer there are many activities that residents of British Columbia engage in more than other times during the year. In addition to participating in seasonal activities such as boating and biking, more people get behind the wheel to drive after consuming alcoholic drinks. At least that is what can be assumed based on statistics. Close to half -- or 46 per cent -- of all deaths that are related to impaired driving in B.C., occur between the months of June and September. In addition, it is the third-leading cause of deaths on provincial roads throughout the summer. Only speeding and distracted driving cause more fatal crashes.

Organ transplant drug may help those with spinal injuries

The severity of a car crash will vary depending on a variety of circumstances. While some are minor fender benders, others can result in serious injuries to those involved. One of the most serious injuries someone could face in such an incident is a spinal cord injury.

Movement away from the word "accident" in crashes gains traction

Motor vehicles of various shapes and sizes are a common mode of transportation for people in both Canada as well as the United States. While occupants of these vehicles often get to their destination without any issues, when they collide with another vehicle or object, the outcome can be devastating. As a result, there is an ongoing effort to make roads safer to prevent these crashes.
