Increased police enforcement in Washington over holiday weekend

Throughout the United States each year, the last Monday of May is observed as Memorial Day. In addition to honoring the lives of those who died while serving their country, the federal holiday is also considered the unofficial start of summer. Accordingly, it is not uncommon for people to gather with friends and family to enjoy the extra day off. Whether getting to these parties and gatherings entails driving long or short distances, over the long holiday weekend the number of people on the road throughout the nation—including those in the Seattle area—generally increases significantly.

Harsher distracted driving laws take effect June 1 in BC

Whenever a catastrophic motor vehicle accident occurs, there are multiple reasons why such an incident may have happened. While there are times that defects with the vehicle itself, or issues with the roadway are to blame, other times it is the actions of the driver. When a driver acts in a negligent manner it is possible a crash could be the outcome. Driving while distracted is one activity that could be deemed negligence.

Airbag recall expanded

As years have passed cars have become safer to drive. The standard installation of airbags is one reason why. When they work as intended, their presence could minimize the severity of the injuries a vehicle occupant suffers in a crash. They may even save a life. On the other hand, defects with an airbag could actually be deadly.

Effect of age on spinal cord injuries

While any injury has the potential to be serious, those involving the spine are often particularly catastrophic. Depending on the severity of the injury it is possible someone could face paralysis of some, or all, limbs, dramatically changing the lives of those involved. This is true regardless of the age of the person who has been hurt.
